Grow our clients profitability through Ads

Senior PPC Campaign Lead

Nobody here earns commission for winning a client, which means every account you'd work on was chosen by a channel expert who looked at it and thought: yes, we can genuinely move this. It's a small thing to say and a hard thing to do, and it ends up shaping almost everything else about working here - why you'd carry four to six accounts instead of fifteen, why progression is measured on client results rather than who's loudest in the room, and why we'd honestly rather you didn't open the laptop on a Sunday night. Plenty of agencies will tell you they're different. Here's ours, in the detail - have a read and see what you think.

About the role

In general

  • Because we have no sales team, every account you take on has already been vetted by a channel expert and comes with a proper strategy behind it. Nobody here is paid to win business, so clients get picked for potential and for fit with how we work – not because someone needed the deal.
  • We pay people rather than buy them things. Salaries are set as high as the business can carry, and we spend very little  on perks (it doesn’t make us a terrible place to work!). Some people would prefer it the other way round and that’s a completely reasonable preference – it just isn’t ours.
  • Progression here is tied to client performance, so we’ve spent a lot of effort making good performance likely: fewer accounts each, colleagues with the time to actually help when you need them, realistic goals agreed with clients up front, and a bespoke internal system we built ourselves to make the delivery side easier.
  • You can swap an office day for a client visit day whenever it’s useful. We’re not precious about where you are, as long as the work’s getting the attention it needs.
  • The culture is deliberately laid back. No politics, no one watching the clock, no egos to manage. People are trusted to crack on.
  • You’ll have a real hand in shaping the department, the business and the culture.
  • We’re growing and we want to take everyone with us – the ambition here is to build something we genuinely want to work at, which matters to us more than any number on a spreadsheet.
  • You’d be joining a team who’ve been around a bit. Most of us have worked at other agencies, in-house, or for ourselves, so we all arrived with a clear view of what we didn’t want to repeat – and we work hard at not letting the problems from old jobs leak into this one.

In the role specifically

  • You’ll start with a portfolio of four to six accounts. We want that number as low as we can make it, so you have the time, the support and the headspace to move the markers that actually matter. It’s why we charge a higher retainer – it buys our clients a genuine one-to-one relationship rather than a slice of someone’s attention.
  • The portfolio is varied and mostly eCommerce, ranging from some of the UK’s best-known brands through to startups doing something new.
  • We’re relentless about finding results. We don’t always get the approach right first time, but we don’t dwell on it either – careful management, enough time, and a strategy that’s allowed to change. Wrapped around that: clear communication, reporting built to each client’s requirements, and wider support from the business whenever it helps (in-house designer, senior staff, industry specialists and so on).
  • Don’t you dare pick up the laptop of an evening or at the weekend. We’re not built to zap your home life. And we shut down completely from Christmas to New Year – you get two extra holidays to cover it.
  • You’ll also help on new business, working with prospects to understand whether we can genuinely help them, what that would look like, and building realistic timelines with a view to bringing them on board – if they’re the right fit.
Climb & Conquer Board Room

Candidate

Fast-forward twelve months. If you’d got the job and we asked around, here’s what we’d want to be hearing about you.

Your colleagues would be genuinely grateful for the support you’ve given them – on shared clients, but just as much on the everyday stuff. They’d be pleased to see your name come up for the internal things too: the monthly pub quiz, a walk at lunch, the step challenge, the music quiz, the daily Wordle argument.

Your clients would say you know their business properly and are visibly interested in it. They’d have real faith in your approach, because it’s producing results. They’d describe you as adaptable when their needs shift, honest about the limits of what you know – and quick to pull in a colleague who knows it better – and willing to push when something needs pushing, rather than letting an account drift.

Your line manager would be talking about how you’ve gone about the work: asking questions when you needed to, staying ahead of your accounts rather than reacting to them, and helping other people in the team get better.

Our founder would be pointing at the ways you’ve shaped how the agency works – better ways of doing things that made the job easier for everyone, not just for you.

Attitude and ability matter more here than anything on a CV. This isn’t a hard-work culture, it’s an effective-work one. We cut through the nonsense and concentrate on growing our clients’ businesses as well as we possibly can – doing right by them even when they aren’t looking, and even when they’d never notice.

Offer

Our typical starting salary for a senior Google Ads campaign lead is £36,000. We know some candidates will sit slightly below our usual senior bar, so we can start at £33,000 with a clear route to £36,000 inside the first six months.

  • A MacBook. We’re firmly in the Apple ecosystem, so everyone gets one.
  • A brand new office, purpose built for us, right on the Infinity Bridge with a view over the River Tees. Free on-site parking, and Teesside Park is a couple of minutes away.
  • Completely flexible on office days.
  • Two extra days off so we can shut down properly between Christmas and New Year.
  • Drinks, snacks and fruit on site. Small stuff, and not a substitute for the salary – just things we’d want in an office we spend time in.
  • A fast growing company, which means the ladder above you is being built rather than blocked.
  • The best environment we can give you to do the best work of your career.

WORKING AT CLIMB&CONQUER

We create an environment whereby we care more about the outcomes of our campaigns than our client – we’re also best positioned to deliver these results against their internal team and other agencies.

We achieve this through selecting talent UK-wide, not doing contracts and expert-led training which is fluid to requirements.

There are hundreds of micro factors that we incorporate which many other agencies don’t, that gives us a really good advantage.
