We’re back with another instalment of our Meet the Team series, highlighting the fantastic and talented people we’re blessed to have on the team here at Climb & Conquer.
This time, we’re introducing Chloe Milne, one of our SEO Executives, who joined us this summer and is based in Northamptonshire. Chloe works on a mix of Technical SEO and Content for a range of our clients including Mallet London, Belcor, Farleigh Performance and Allen Hire, to name a few.
Let’s get into it, shall we?
Give us a whistlestop of your career journey to date:
When I left school, I knew I wanted to jump straight into the working world, so I joined an apprenticeship straight away. I spent two years at a small web company, where I worked on everything from designing and coding to SEO and content writing. This gave me a solid understanding of how a website comes together from start to finish, and I gained some really valuable transferable skills.
After that, I shifted to admin and procurement roles. Before remote work became more popular, and with the impact of COVID, it was hard to find opportunities in the field I was passionate about that were accessible to me, which led to a career change. This year, I decided to pursue the roles I truly care about, using all the experience I’d gained. And that’s what has brought me here!
Describe briefly a typical day in the life of your role:
I’d say a day in my role is very varied – and that’s what I like about it. First, I’ll prioritise client emails and prep for any meetings I have that day. Then, I’ll work through my to-do list. I always like to make sure I’m mixing up my days with different tasks for different clients (when I can), as I find that’s the most stimulating for me. I had a break from the norm recently and attended the brilliant TEDxTeesside event that we were headline sponsoring, and it was brilliant to hear from the inspiring speakers and meet some of my Climb & Conquer colleagues IRL!
What made you decide to join Climb & Conquer?:
Fully remote work was a huge factor for me. After working from home for two years, I found it hard to imagine going back to an office five days a week.
The idea of a trainee role with clear progression was also really appealing. Having been out of the industry for a few years, I had some doubts when applying for roles. However, knowing that I’d have strong support and great growth opportunities made this position feel like the perfect fit for me.
What do you enjoy most about your role?:
I love the balance between having all the support you need without being micromanaged. There’s a strong sense of trust, and it’s refreshing to work at a company that genuinely values and appreciates your opinions and work.
And what’s the most challenging part?:
Although I’m very chatty, I’m not overly comfortable with “public speaking”, so client meetings can sometimes feel daunting. But, this is something I’m trying to push myself out of my comfort zone with constantly. Even in the space of 4 months, I can already see a massive difference in myself on calls and meetings.
What’s your hot take on SEO for 2024?:
Don’t neglect tech work!
You might not see instant results, but it’s essential for both Google and your users in the long run. You could have the best content or campaigns, but if your site is full of issues, none of that matters.
If you could give one piece of advice to anyone looking to get into your field, what would it be?:
Always look for more things to learn!
SEO is constantly evolving and there are plenty of curveballs, so you can never do enough research or testing. The more you learn, the better prepared you’ll be.
We’re always on the lookout for talented SEO and PPC aspiring pros, so if that’s you and you’re seeking a remote-first role with true progression opportunities and in-depth training and mentoring, head over to our Vacancy details for more information.
