It’s time for another instalment of our Meet the Team series, and this week, it’s Ellen Chambers, Trainee Campaign Lead.
Lincoln-based Ellen joined us in the latter half of 2023, originally as an SEO Executive, then diversifying to include Content in her arsenal, too. Ellen is now on a further growth trajectory, working to become a Campaign Lead, taking more ownership of client accounts, strategy and the way we do things here at Climb and Conquer. Ellen’s progression is an amazing example of how our flatter team structure enables fast growth for those willing and able, and we’re so excited to see the steps she takes next.
Let’s find out a little more about her, shall we?
Give us a whistle-stop tour of your career journey to date:
I started with a social media marketing apprenticeship, which gave me a great foundation to build my overall marketing knowledge. Then, in October 2023, I joined Shane and the team as a Trainee SEO Executive. For the first eight months, I focused on creating content.
After that, I stepped up to the role of Trainee Campaign Lead. This shift allowed me to broaden my SEO skills to include technical aspects, not just content creation.
Describe briefly a typical day in the life of your role:
I begin my day by checking/responding to my emails and then checking over what work I have planned for the day and catching up with the team on what they have going on that may tie in with my responsibilities on any given day. I will spend the morning completing any urgent/timely tasks, and then around 1 pm, I will touch base with clients again. Up until the end of the day, I will return to my tasks which could include content creation, tech fixes or client meetings.
All of this is fueled by excessive amounts of coffee!
What made you decide to join Climb & Conquer?
The fully remote role was very appealing to me, along with the possibility for quick career progression if you put the work in. This is a perk I’ve certainly found to be true and it’s so refreshing to work somewhere in the digital industry where progression is as fast as you make it.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Other than the great team I work with, the thing I enjoy most about my role is creating content and keyword research – it’s my happy place!
And what’s the most challenging part?
Personally, the most challenging part is identifying and fixing tech issues. This is mainly due to a lack of experience, but it’s an area I’m working on and developing in. Thankfully, we have so many talented people within the team with that technical expertise, and they’re always happy to help and share knowledge.
What’s your hot take on Digital Marketing for 2024?
Freshening up content for the win. Updating and optimising existing content can be more effective than creating new content – you will see results sooner. Don’t neglect old content!
If you could give one piece of advice to anyone looking to get into your field, what would it be?
Having a strong basic knowledge of the field will make learning the more complex things a lot easier, and if you can find any free resources/courses you can take to keep you learning, go for it!
